Amanda Marsden, a salon in Exeter, are looking to take on a business administration apprentice to join their team.
The Apprentice’s Role
The right candidate will need to be motivated and enthusiastic to assist in delivering constantly high levels of customer service, and to ensure that company policies and procedures are carried out. As part of your duties you will participate in the behind the scenes running of the salon and ensuring all emails and calls are responded to accordingly. The candidate will be responsible to the Salon Manager, Hayley, and will also work very closely with other stylists and customers.
You will be assisting stylists in ensuring that all clients are given the highest levels of customer service with special attention to comfort and friendliness. You will also generate and promote a professional working atmosphere and assist stylists in advising clients of all aspects of services available, including all products, tools and equipment available for retail purchase. You will be making sure that the front of house and reception area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
You will be supervised by a fully qualified member of staff throughout your training, and you must follow health and safety procedure in the salon.
Working Hours: The successful candidate will be working 30-40 hours per week (5days) between Monday – Saturday. Shift patterns will be arranged at the start of the apprenticeship.
Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Through having completed the level 2 qualification in business administration, you will then have the opportunity to progress onto the advanced level 3 apprenticeship.
With the experience and the skills you have gained, you can use these to maximize the opportunities to further your career at the end of your apprenticeship programme.
The successful applicant could also look at progressing onto other qualifications.
You will have good organisational and leadership skills and be confident for this role. You will have the ability to work under pressure, as well as good problem solving skills. You must be flexible, work well within a team and on your own.
You need to be reliable and have good time keeping and attendance. Experience of IT would be an advantage for this role.
The successful candidate needs to be familiar with current trends within the hairdressing and fashion industry. You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service with a friendly personality to interact efficiently with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications required for this role include A-E in English and Maths or functional skills will need to be completed for the initial induction process with Skills Group.
The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:
All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.
You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
