A well established Carpet Company based in Tavistock, are looking for the ideal candidate to join their experienced team to carry out all the duties involved in a front facing customer service role at the centre.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful candidate will be involved in a majority of duties such as assisting to make sure that the general centre and office activities runs smoothly and efficiently. You will carry out a variety of duties such as covering the show room, answering the telephone and taking messages, meeting and greeting clients as they come into the office, in a friendly and professional manner.

You will also be supporting the team with general administrative duties including, incoming and outgoing post, typing up documents and correspondence from draft, and helping with some marketing administration.

You will be supervised throughout your learning process by an experienced member of staff who will assist and advice you of all your duties for this position. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate well in a business setting, be able to process sales orders and carrying out direct sales activities in the centre.

Working Hours: You will be required to work 40 hours a week between Monday and Friday, your specific hours will be discussed with the employer at interview.

Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The Carpet Centre is a local family run business who have been around for the last 35 years, They have enjoyed significant growth supplying and installing Textile Carpets, Vinyl flooring, Laminate flooring, LVT and Artificial Grass in a variety of commercial and residential properties, throughout Devon and Cornwall and the surrounding areas. We have built an excellent reputation on the quality of our products, high standard of workmanship and service. It is no surprising that we pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and therefore would be looking for an individual that would demonstrate our business values and commitment to quality and service.

The successful candidate will complete the Level 2 qualification in Customer Service and will then have the opportunity to progress on to the advanced Level 3 apprenticeship. By doing this you will gain additional skills and knowledge to further your career options at the end of the apprenticeship programme.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate will need to work well within a team and have the ability to use their own initiative when working alone. You will need to be able to work under pressure, have a focused approach to all tasks and have good organisational skills.

Personal Qualities

The successful candidate will need to be reliable, hardworking and be able to use their own initiative when working alone.

You must be confident, polite, presentable and be of smart appearance as you will be dealing with customers face to face and over the telephone.

Prior Qualifications

Qualifications required for this role include GCSE’s in Maths and English, or equivalent qualification, ICT is essential.

The Apprenticeship in Customer Service consists of:
◾Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
◾Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
◾Health and Safety Certificate
◾Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
