Gilpin are looking to take on an ambitious individual to grow within the commercial team.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful applicant will have the drive to succeed and attack every task given with enthusiasm and with the desire to see things through to a high standard. You must be; reliable and hardworking, confident and a strong team player. Mature in nature with an adaptable approach to your work. You will have a creative flair and be able to support the varied functions of the business, ie; Engineering, CAD, Finance, Administration and supporting the all members of the team, including Managers and up to Director level.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual to establish themselves in a growing commercial team and take a huge step towards building a successful career in the industry. You will be partaking in general administration support, you will produce correspondence, documents and will maintain presentations, records, spread sheets and databases. You must be able to use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel. You must have own transport , on site parking is available. We will support and mentor your development to gain the skills and confidence to do the job.

Working Hours You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week and will be from Monday to Friday.

Wages £140.00 per week with a possible rise depending on skills and experience. Any additional hours worked above the 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage rage, depending on age.

Holiday 29 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each month during the course of your apprenticeships.

Gilpin Demolition Group LTD is a UK leading specialist business, which offers demolition services, including rail, bridge commercial and marine projects. Gilpin also specialises in environmental services offering asbestos removal and waste treatment management.

Gilpin Demolition Group LTD comprises of three companies: Gilpin Demolition, Gilpin Environmental and Gilpin Scrap Metals.

Through having completed your Level 2 you will have gained the skills in Business Administration that you can use to maximise your future career. Once having completed your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to work towards an advanced Level 3 and 4.

Skills Required

This role will requires a high level of organisation, you will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have a professional working ethic and be able to multi-task.

Personal Qualities

You must also have excellent attention to detail and be able to maintain a methodical approach to your work. We are looking for someone who is also confident and can be assertive when required. You must be ambitious and willing to learn and grow with the help of a mentor. You must also be proactive and have a forward thinking nature and will have excellent communication skills.

Prior Qualifications

A-C (1-5) Grades Maths and English are desired.

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration (QCF)
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (Level 1)
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
