T.H March Chartered Insurance Brokers are looking two business administration apprentices to join their busy team based at Yelverton Business Park.

The Apprentice’s Role

During your apprenticeship you will be given a variety of tasks and duties required for the start of a very promising future.

Depending on your current ability and skill set will depend on the position you will take within the business. T.H March strongly believe in working to individuals abilities, whether it be starting with a reception role dealing with the busy incoming visitors and calls between departments, or straight to the personal insurances line department. Whatever your desire, you are sure to have a long lasting career with them if you have the drive to succeed.

Whichever role you take within this business, you will have one to one training throughout your early days and guidance that is second to none.

In the personal insurances line once trained, you will successfully deal with new business enquiries and insurance renewals and provide a first class service to clients by fulfilling their insurance requirements. You will Handle day to day queries from clients and act as point of contact and build and maintain relationships with clients, insurers and other staff within the company. If this is the route you choose, you will have the opportunity to complete T.H March’s personal insurances qualification.

As well as liaise with colleagues to share information about the current insurance marketplace, you will assist them with any insurance queries. You will comply with service standards at all times, to ensure the best service is provided to clients and provide insurers and underwriters with accurate information to ensure they can assess each risk correctly.

You will also learn how to maintain accurate files and to ensure copies of correspondence and telephone notes are correctly recorded, maintain clients’ and the Company’s confidentiality at all times and fully understand T.H March Policies and Procedures and ensure they are adhered to.

You must always comply with the Company Policy on Information Security and Acceptable Use and undertake all other duties as reasonably required and directed.

Working Hours: The working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm.

Wages: Under 18 is £4.05 per hour, 18-20 is £5.60 per hour, 21-24 is £7.05 and 25 plus is £7.50 per hour. This advert is based on the middle range pay of a 18 year old.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Past Apprentices

T. H. March have previously supported and taken on many apprentices through Skills Group, ten of which have now progressed onto their Level 3 apprenticeships in Business Administration or Customer Service. Many apprentices have also gone onto Team Leading and Management qualifications.

On completion of your Level 2 qualification in Business Administration, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a second apprenticeship Level 2 in Customer Service, or a Level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration followed by Team Leading if your job role allows. There on, the opportunities are endless if you have the right drive and skills to progress.

Skills Required

The successful candidates will need to have excellent customer service skills and an efficient and pleasant telephone manner, together with good communications skills, both verbal and written. You will need to have the ability to gather information in order to forward to colleagues.

You must have great organisational skills, with a focused approach to all the work that you will undertake for this role.

Good timekeeping and attendance are also very important for this position.

Personal Qualities

The successful candidates must be honest, reliable, professional and enthusiastic towards their working tasks. You must have excellent communication and ICT skills and be open to taking on new tasks and challenges.

As you will be the first point of contact for many customers/clients over the telephone and walking into the office, you must be professional, and have a pleasant outgoing personality at all times.

Prior Qualifications

The qualifications required are GCSE grades in English and Maths A – C, or the equivalent grades.

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration (QCF)
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (Level 1)
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
