Business Administration Apprentice

A challenging and rewarding position has arisen, based at Leigham Primary School for the right candidate to support the CEO.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful candidate will assist the CEO in the provision of efficient and effective administrative and clerical support services. You will answer telephone calls, photocopy documents and keep accurate records, developing new systems where necessary to ensure appropriate records.

In addition, you will maintain and order stationery, maintain personnel filing system and provide an effective and efficient reception, mail and distribution service. You will also maintain accurate administrative, financial, student and other school records and assist in the preparation and production of resource materials and assist with examination administration.

Part of your role will also involve updating the website as directed and preparing meeting rooms. Other general day to day tasks will involve newsletters, word processing, filing and ordering stationery.

Working Hours: You will be working Monday to Friday, 30-40 hours a week.

Wages:* £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any hours worked above 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.

Holiday: You will be entitled to 28 days holiday, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The Connect Academy Trust is based in the South West, centred upon Plymouth.
It is made up from five schools; Eggbuckland Vale Primary, Leigham Primary, Manadon Vale Primary, Thornbury Primary and Widey Court Primary. The Trust was formed in 2016 and aims to provide a firm foundation for developing staff in order to secure the best learning opportunities for their pupils. It operates a dynamic system where each school is a giver and receiver of support.

Past Apprentices

This is the first time they have invested in the apprenticeship programme.

Through having completed your level 2 you will have gained the skills in business administration that you can use to maximise your future career. Once having completed your level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to work towards an advanced level 3 and 4.

Skills Required

This role will requires a high level of organisation, you will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have a professional working ethic and be able to multi-task. You must also have excellent attention to detail and be able to maintain a methodical approach to your work. They are looking for someone who is also confident and can be assertive when required.

Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will be polite, reliable and hard working, confident and a strong team player. Mature in nature with an adaptable approach to your work.

Prior Qualifications

GCSE grades A-C is desired.

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
