The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of duties, which will include welcoming visitors to the school in a friendly and professional manner ensuring they feel welcome and attended to and process children who arrive late and leave during the day for appointments/sickness etc.

In addition, you will process ID checks for all visitors in accordance with the school’s safeguarding procedures, ensuring everyone is signed in and out and wearing the appropriate identification. You will seek to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils by being aware of unexpected visitors and reporting to senior management team any concerns which arise through contact with children in line with the school’s ‘anti bullying’ and ‘child protection’ policies.

You will ensure all contractors visiting site to carry out any intrusive works sign the school’s Asbestos Register, deal with all queries, either in person or by telephone, in a swiftly and appropriate manner using tact and diplomacy at all times. You will also ensure the answer-phone messages are checked early every morning and then regularly thereafter during the day.

Working Hours: The working hours will be 35hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Wages: £140.00 per week. Any hours above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The Academy incorporates the six small schools of Bearnes, Diptford, Harbertonford, Hennock, Landscove and Stoke Gabriel. Four of the schools are situated in rural villages around the town of Totnes, set within the beautiful South Hams region of Devon. Hennock is on Dartmoor and is known as “the school with a view”, and Bearnes Primary is a village school set within the heart of the market town of Newton Abbott. Whilst the schools work together, each school is unique with its own particular character and each group of schools, Totnes and Newton and Teign, have their own Local Board of Governors.

The schools achieve high academic standards through the provision of an exciting curriculum that makes the most of their rich surroundings. They offer a caring, nurturing environment, with dedicated staff who strive to meet the needs of every child and a culture of high expectations through first rate systems and procedures that ensure they are effective and efficient in all that they do.

The schools within the Multi-Academy Trust are vibrant and exciting places to work in, yet their small size enables them to know every child and build strong relationships with each family. All the schools have good reputations built on high standards and a caring ethos, but are always looking for ways to improve so that they meet the challenges of preparing children for the future.

They maintain excellent links with other schools in the area and have close ties with the successful local secondary schools of Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, South Dartmoor, KEVICC, Newton Abbott College and the Templar Academy Schools Trust as well as with the grammar schools in Torbay and Plymouth.
