The Apprentice’s Role

This role provides an opportunity to develop invaluable skills that will be transferable throughout your working life, building on your existing communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

The role will see you working under direction from the Senior Mortgage Administrator and with the Independent Mortgage Advisers to ensure a seamless service to our clients is provided. You will assist in the management of mortgage application and protection business from submission to completion through effective communication with our clients, lenders and insurers and other industry professionals outside of TFA. This is a very busy role and occasionally you will be required to provide support as a receptionist, being the point of enquiry within the company.

Working Hours: The specific working hours will be confirmed during the interview process however the standard working hours are 40 hours a week.

Wages: £206.25 per week, based on 37.5hours per week. Any hours worked above 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

The successful applicant will need excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team and to deadlines. You will need a positive attitude and will need to be keen to learn, and you will need a willingness to complete the qualifications which are part of the apprenticeship. You will need the ability to deal with clients on the phone and in person and a knowledge of using PC applications to include Microsoft Office.

Personal Qualities

You will need an understanding of the importance of confidentiality including the Data Protection Act and will have excellent attention to detail. You will need to be honest, friendly and confident with a pride in personal appearance.

Prior Qualifications

Due to the nature of the position, a GCSE pass grade in Maths, English and ICT would be an advantage.

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme. You will also attend Diploma Workshops once a month for the first 8 months of your apprenticeship.
