Business Administration Apprentice

This vacancy is based in Prince Rock. Ventro are looking to take on a Contracts Assistant to join their team in Plymouth.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful candidate will be accountable for participating in the weekly contracts meetings with ideas and problem solving. You will be reporting on a weekly basis to the Contracts Team Leader through weekly reports and review on project status in the meetings.

You will create project schedules for contractor use on site, arrange cost out projects as and when required and monitor and update cost and margin calculators and cost trackers to ensure live reporting of project GP.

Along with this, you will carry out procurement exercises on a project by project basis to ensure best value, resolve project issues as and when required and send out and collect customer satisfaction questionnaires on completion of the project. You will update all project files with relevant information as required, complete company health and safety documents to ensure that all certification, systems and policies are up-to-date and carry out any other project related tasks as requested by the project managers.

The successful candidate will also attend site if required to check on project progress and customer sign off (this will mainly be carried out by the project manager but may be required from time to time).

Working Hours: You will be working 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, some flexibility will be required when and if you attend off-site projects.

Wages: £170.00 per week. Any hours worked above 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.

Holiday: You will be entitled to 28 days holiday, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The role is progressive and the successful candidate will quickly be able to take on more responsibility and progress within the company. The company's intention is that the candidate will progress to a career in project management once the apprenticeship is complete.

Skills Required

The successful candidate will have good communication skills with the ability to multi-task. In addition, you will have knowledge and confidence in using a variety of IT applications and effective keyboard skills and the ability to effectively prioritise workload and work to deadlines.

Personal Qualities

You will be organised, hard-working and reliable. You have a strong work ethic and be able to work independently as well as being an effective team member.

Prior Qualifications

GCSE grades A-C is preferred but not required.

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
