H & H Healthcare are looking for a number of apprentices whilst they go through a period of growth. Therefore, the right candidate will be looking to develop a long-term career in care and show passion for the industry.
Access to own transport is required for the role, due to the nature of the work.
The Apprentice’s Role
The candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn and be able to adapt with ease to the needs of service users. The right candidate will work pro-actively in a busy environment and show determination to develop their skills and knowledge.
The apprentice will provide support, advocacy and information to the individuals they support and emotional and practical support to service users. You will help service users meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately to a high standard, including personal hygiene, assistance with laundry, and preparing meals and drinks.
In addition, you will enable service users to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life by providing appropriate information, opportunity, training, counselling and support. You will assist service users to identify and choose their support needs, assist in devising, implementing and reviewing care plans and basic light domestic duties.
Working Hours: The working hours will be 40 hours per week. Shifts will be discussed at interview. Weekend work is required.
Wages: £320.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.
H & H Healthcare offers a wide range of domiciliary care services to both private clients and on a direct payment/commissioned basis in the Plymouth, South Hams and surrounding areas. They offer a high standard of care to all their clients, and pride themselves on ensuring every client receives a personalised care plan. Their staff are all experienced within the care sector, and aim for the highest possible standard of service at all times.
The company has never previously supported an apprentice. However, due to expansion, they now feel the time is right to welcome one into the company.
On successful completion of your level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to developing your skills, experience and knowledge further within the working environment by completing a level 3 qualification.
The employer is very committed to staff development and training, and to assist the successful apprentice to progress through all their training, with a view to future employment.
The right candidate will be hard working, honest and caring with good communication skills. You will be able to take instruction from management, peers and service users, be adaptable and have a desire to make a difference in the well being and lives of service users.
The successful applicant will need to be highly reliable and extremely patient, with a kind, fair and supportive approach to be able to work effectively in this care setting.
As an apprentice, you must be able to work with other adults and be able to demonstrate good teamwork skills, and where required, have the ability to work alone in an organised and focused manner.
An ability to communicate well with all ages and ability is essential.
GCSE A-C* desirable but not essential.
The Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care in:
Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace, Penns Mount, where you will be supported throughout your training by experienced colleagues. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
As an additional qualification Skills Group will also help you to achieve your Emergency First Aid, and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
