The Apprentice’s Role

Through your apprenticeship programme, you will be involved in a lot of duties and will gain knowledge in all areas. One of your main duties will be supervising children at play time and making sure everything within the settings meets health and safety procedures. You will need to be able to engage and interact with the children in learning and play activities. You will also need to help during story time, and join in with creative and playtime activities.

Another part of this child care position will be to keep records up to date and maintain a high standard of operation, recording any issues and problems that may arise throughout the day. Another important part of this role is that the right candidate must be highly trustworthy and attentive to children’s needs, with a focus on their learning and development.

You will be supervised by an experienced and qualified member of staff throughout your training. The successful apprentice will be required to make sure that all activity and learning equipment used daily is cleaned and put away correctly, following all company processes and procedures, including health and safety in the workplace.

As a child care apprentice you will be a great team player and have excellent standards of personal hygiene and appearance, be reliable and model positive behaviour at all times.

Working Hours: The shifts will be between 8am-6pm, covering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Wages: £140.00 per week based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Noah’s Ark was established by Tim and Nyree Squires back in 1996. With a background in teaching they decided to start their own nursery, offering the kind of quality childcare service they just couldn’t find anywhere. Starting out small in a church hall, they have steadily grown from their first nursery in Prince Rock to today having eight centres across Devon.

Everything about their daycare services has been built around outstanding quality. They have a range of experienced and qualified staff that really care and carefully planned activity sessions to stimulate minds and prepare children for school mixed in with plenty of fun!

They create a family atmosphere and feel to each centre, working closely in partnership with parents to give every child the very best start in life and every parent the kind of flexible support they need to progress in their careers or just help with life in general; what unites their team is a love for children and a real desire to help families.

All staff are DBS checked and the child care provision is OFSTED registered
