Quality Lifestyle are looking to take on an apprentice to join their team in their Tavistock Care Home.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of duties, you will help service users meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately to a high standard, including personal hygiene, assistance with laundry, and preparing meals and drinks. You will also be supporting them to take any prescribed medicine, complying with all medicine policies, including storage, administering and record keeping and enabling them to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life by providing appropriate information, opportunity, training, counselling and support.
In addition, you will assist service users to identify and choose their support needs and support them to present themselves as valued members of the local community. You will create opportunities for social and leisure activities with service users according to their wish and introduce service them to a range of facilities and amenities in the local neighbourhood and wider community.
You will keep records and participate in administrative tasks, assist in writing, receiving and updating of individual care plans in conjunction with the Service Manager and assist and participate in the wide range of administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the service.
You will also be expected to attend staff development programmes, training courses, seminars and workshops as required and participate in and contribute to team meetings. You must maintain confidentiality about service users staff and the company as a whole at all times.
Working Hours: The working week will be 40 hours which will include shift work across a 7 day week to reflect a realistic care setting.
Wages: £160.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Quality Lifestyle currently support many apprentices through Skills Group.
Once having completed your level 2 apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a level 3 qualification.
Quality Lifestyle also hopes that this will lead to permanent full-time employment for the right candidate who meets their usual recruitment criteria.
The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be able to take instruction from management, staff members and service users. You will have the ability to think on your feet and have a desire to make a difference in the well-being and lives of service users.
You will have an outgoing personality, positive work attitude and have the ability to work well as past of a team. You must be physically able to support service users to participate in a wide range of social activities.
No formal qualifications are required however a keen interest in the care industry is desirable.
The Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care in:
Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace, where you will be supported throughout your training by experienced colleagues. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
As an additional qualification Skills Group will also help you to achieve your Emergency First Aid, and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
