Roselands Community Nursery is looking to introduce a new apprentice to their fully qualified team. The right candidate will be looking for a long-term position in childcare, be enthusiastic and energised to learner and develop.
The Apprentice’s Role
Roselands provides quality childcare in a safe, happy and stimulating environment. They provide activities, resources, experiences, and opportunities that allow children to develop.
Staff will encourage children to use and develop their imagination and to build positive social relationships. They believe in treating children and staff fairly and encourage acceptance of the individual, promoting equal opportunities in all areas.
The right candidate will be expected to:
To work within the team to ensure the smooth day to day organisation & the safety of all children. As a Level 2 Childcare apprentice, you will be expected to have excellent observational and communication skills and will play an active part in the development of the children in your care. The apprentice will also be expected to go between rooms to develop your knowledge in each area.
The apprentice will help children to understand and demonstrate good health, hygiene and personal habits during meal times, rest periods and bathroom use, and model excellence whilst you assist in serving snacks and refreshments to children.
The right candidate be a great team player and have excellent standards of personal hygiene and appearance, be reliable and model positive behaviour at all times.
Working Hours: Roselands is open between 07:30 – 18:00, therefore the apprentice will be expected to work on a rota basis and remain flexible with working pattern. Currently the setting is open term time only, however this is likely to change in the near future to all year around.
Wages: The wages are £5.00 per hour which equates to £180 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Roselands is a popular nursery and playschool for children aged 2 – 5 years. They are a team f highly skilled professionals with a range of specialisms that enhance children’s early play, learning and development. Every professional within the setting regularly obtains professional development, enabling a dynamic and current practice of teaching and assessment that ensures a solid foundation for every child’s earliest years and provides a desire for life long learning experiences.
On completion of your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to developing your skills, experience and knowledge further within the working environment by completing a level 3 qualification.
The employer is very committed to staff development and training, and to assist the successful apprentice to progress through all their training, with a view to future employment.
The successful candidate needs to be outgoing and able to work using own initiative. As an apprentice you will have an interest in the needs of young children & have the ability to work as part of a team & understand the importance of confidentiality.
You will need to have good communication skills when dealing with children and adults, and will be reliable and hardworking.
The successful candidate must have great leadership and organisational skills, and be confident in everything they do. You must have the ability to work under pressure, as well as possess good problem solving skills and flexibility in your approach to work.
The successful applicant will need to be highly reliable and extremely patient, with a kind, fair and supportive approach to be able to work effectively in this child care setting.
As an apprentice, you must be able to work with other adults and be able to demonstrate good teamwork skills, and where required, have the ability to work alone in an organised and focused manner.
An ability to communicate well with children, staff and parents is essential.
Qualifications required for this role, include GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications such as functional skills.
The Apprenticeship in Child Care includes:

Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace where you will be supported throughout your training by your employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will help you, and monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve Emergency and Paediatric First Aid, and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
