Best Quality Windows are looking to take on a Window Installer to undertake their level 2 Fenestration Installation Apprenticeship. This is an exciting and varied opportunity for any young person looking to get into the home improvements trade.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful candidate will be carrying out tasks such as; the installation of windows, doors, fascia boards, conservatories. Alongside this you will be taking instruction from your supervisor, observing their daily tasks and asking relevant questions and setting up and clearing your workspace.
You will be assisting the qualified tradesman learning the many skills required for this exciting role and carrying out a wide range of projects which includes maintenance, repairs and renewing windows and doors, fitting guttering and fascia boards, constructing conservatories and porches.
You will use a variety of specialised tools to undertake all the projects for this position including manual and power tools. You will need to have a high level of fitness and stamina as this role does involve manual lifting using support straps and suction pads for glass products. You will be shown how to lift theses products safely and correctly when transporting and installing.
Throughout your on site learning you will be supervised by a qualified member of their team who will show you how to use all tools and equipment correctly and safely, following Health and Safety procedures in the work place at all times.
As part of your duties and responsibilities you must make sure that the work area is left clean and tidy, and all tools and equipment used is put away correctly at the end of the day.
Working Hours: The working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm. which equates to 40 hours a week.
Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any hours worked above 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.
Holiday: You will be entitled to 28 days holiday, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Best Quality Windows have been trading since 1990 and have built up an excellent reputation for giving value for money. They offer a top class service at an affordable price. Although they are based in Plymouth they cover most areas of Devon and Cornwall.
They are based on St Levans Road and would expect the suitable candidate to get to this location each morning for work.
Whilst they do advertise, most of their business comes from recommends. All of their fitters are mature, experienced and take great pride in their work. From this you will have second to none training with a professional at all times.
On completion of your level 2 qualification in fenestration, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the advanced level 3 apprenticeship depending on your commitment throughout your first year. This will further develop your skills, knowledge and experience, and provide you with wider opportunities at the end of your apprenticeship programme.
For this position you must be physically active and able to carry materials in the correct way. You must be able to work well within a team and communicate your thoughts, ideas and ask relevant questions.
As this job requires a 8am start you must ensure you have good time keeping as it is essential to be punctual.
The successful apprentice will need to be honest and trust worthy, as they deal with members of the public in their own homes. You will also need to have good time keeping and communication skills. Being polite and courteous to all customers and members of staff is crucial at all times.
A-D grades desirable however not essential in order to apply.
The Apprenticeship in Fenestration consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Fabrication of Glass Supporting Structures
◾Level 2 Certificate in Glass Related Operations
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with the employer, and you will have regular site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
Skills Group will also support you to achieve Emergency First Aid and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
You will also be supported by Skills Group to complete your CSCS online test, to achieve your CSCS Card which enables you to carry out site work, if required.
