Lang and Potter are looking to recruit a machinist apprentice to join their experienced team.
The Apprentice’s Role
You will be taught all aspects of a machinist role, you will learn to make high end bespoke designs for valued customers using a variety of upholstery skills and abilities.
You will work in a supportive environment within a small team. You will be taught how to use specialist sewing machinery while also being able to cut high-quality fabrics, these designs and products will be used on government warships.
You will have to be at least 18 years old to be considered for the role.
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07.30am – 4.30pm and Friday 7.30 – 12.30.
Wages: £140.00 per week. Any overtime above 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Once having completed your qualification, you will progress to higher qualifications with the opportunity to gain full-time employment.
You will need to be precise and accurate with your work while taking pride in the final product. You will need to be hard working and passionate about the industry and an excellent team player.
You will need to be responsible and trustworthy at times and take direction well. You should be enthusiastic with excellent time keeping skills and a willing to succeed.
Qualifications are not essential however a good level of English and Maths would be desirable.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Performing Manufacturing Operations consists of:
Attendance will be required at our training centre for one day a week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will monitor your progress during your training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical.
