Love Flooring Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic person to join their flooring shop to expand on their family run business.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful candidates role will include many duties including the preparations of floors and assisting with the installation of all types of floor coverings including LVT, Carpet, Vinyl, Artificial Grass, Rubber etc. You will be assisting in the measuring and tendering of jobs and will be required to maintain cleanliness of work areas including store.
Part of what you do will involve work in peoples’ houses so honesty and good communication skills are a must as you represent the company at all times.
Adherence to health and safety in the workplace is required at all times as well as ensuring all work is cleared each day and tools are in their rightful place.
Working Hours: You will be required to work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday.
Wages: £150.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any hours worked above 40 hours per week will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.
Holiday: You will be entitled to 28 days holiday, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Love Flooring (Previously known as Vista Flooring Ltd) was established in 2008, initially serving the commercial market. In August 2016, we opened a retail shop just off Hyde park to serve the residential market. Built upon reputation, Love Flooring is steadily growing and aims to deliver a high quality service. Love Flooring is a boutique flooring shop situated just off Hyde Park in Plymouth and specialises in bringing design and functionality together by offering a variety of high quality flooring solutions, working in both the domestic and commercial market.
Love Flooring have taken on 2 previous apprentices, one of whom is still working within the business and is now a fully qualified floor layer who has also undertaken advanced training.
After successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be an excellent floor layer that will have a good sound knowledge and experience in laying most types of floors.
For the right candidate, a permanent position will be offered upon successful completion of their apprenticeship.
You need to show a keen interest in the flooring sector and be hardworking with an ability to work on your own initiative.
The role is physically demanding at times so a good level of fitness is required. Good hand skills and an enjoyment of practical, hands-on learning will put you in a position to excel in flooring.
Love Flooring are looking for someone that is keen to learn and to take on new challenges.
You must be eager to learn and take on new challenges whilst keeping punctual and have be smart in appearance at all times. You will be honest and have good personal skills with a friendly, outgoing personality.
A willingness to succeed in learning a trade is more important than qualifications. However good Maths and English skills are desired.
The Apprenticeship in Floorcovering consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations
◾Level 2 Diploma in Floorcovering – Textile and Impervious
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Attendance is required at our our Skills Group training centre on 1 week block release sessions, every 8 weeks as part of your training course. When you are with us you learn sub-floor preparation, carpet fitting, floor tiling, impervious and vinyl to help develop your hand skills and these sessions are set out over six visits.
You have the opportunity to carry out tasks using our indispensable high quality materials ensuring when you return to your employer the following week you have improved your hand skills as well as having a greater knowledge of each area of floor laying.
You will be supported throughout your training by one of our dedicated assessors. As an additional qualification, you will also achieve Emergency First Aid and Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
