Spot-On Services are looking to take on a painting and decorating apprentice to join their skilled team.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful apprentice will work with the employer and four other members of staff on a day-to-day basis, decorating clients home or on-site. The apprentice will be provided with a CSCS card to be able to get on-site for these jobs. You will be learning how to apply colour correctly, create colour, apply and remove wallpaper and prepare surfaces for decoration. You will also learn about Artex and how to use it if this is something that you would like to learn as well as many more skills of the trade.
This vacancy would really suit someone who is looking to gain hands on experience whilst gaining a qualification.
Working Hours: Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm with one hour for lunch.
Wages: You will be paid £140.00 per week, based on 40 hours. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

On successful completion of the Level 2 you will then be progressed onto Level 3. The opportunity of a long term permanent position is available for the right person.
You will need a good level of accuracy and attention to detail are essential as well as a good level of Maths and English. You will have a polite manner, have the ability to listen and take verbal instructions to support staff.
You will need to be polite and courteous, with a positive attitude towards your work and the people around you. You will be an excellent time keeper, be able to shown initiative, remain calm under pressure as well as being methodical and organised.
For this role you will need the required English and Maths at Grade C or above.
The Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations – Painter
◾Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Attendance is required at our training centre for one day a week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on site and you will have site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre you will be carrying out various theory and practical modules required for the apprenticeship course. You will learn all the skills necessary and gain the necessary knowledge that will help you throughout your apprenticeship.
You will learn how to prepare areas, spray doors, ceilings and walls, wallpapering, marble graining as well as constructing and using scaffold towers and platforms.
Throughout your training you will supervised by your designated assessor, who will teach you the necessary skills to help you when you return to the site with your employer.
As an additional qualification you will achieve your Emergency First Aid and Health & Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
Skills Group will also support you through your CSCS test to obtain your CSCS card. This confirms that individuals working in the building environment have the necessary competence, and shows the employer that you have the correct qualification to work on-site.
