This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join the busy sport team of Compton Primary School.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful applicant will be supporting teaching and learning throughout the Federation. Compton C of E Primary School requires an enthusiastic and talented person to join their high achieving school. A passion for developing sport and healthy living at an early age is essential. Alongside studying for an NVQ 3 qualification the successful candidate will work directly under our PE Co-Ordinator and will be directed. In addition to the qualification the school will provide full training for Real PE.

The role will entail numerous amounts of activities which will include:

• Supporting classes with the delivery of PE
• Running a sports element of their breakfast club
• Working to develop a sporting programme at lunchtimes, run some structured play/games
• Maintaining the sports equipment and set up for lessons
• Assist in after school clubs including set up
• Attend and assist in sporting events

Working Hours: You will be working 30-40 hours per week, ranging between the hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday. Specific shifts to be negotiated with the school.

Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

You will need good numeracy and literacy standards as these will need to be demonstrated, also a real interest in working with children.

Personal Qualities

You will need to be a team player to be part of the team. We require you are patient, punctual, confident and reliable as this is essential. A strong work ethic will also need to be demonstrated.

Prior Qualifications

We require you have Maths and English Grades A-C or 4-9 and have good interpersonal skills.

The Apprenticeship in Physical Education and School Sport includes:
◾Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership (QCF)
◾Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport (QCF)
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Employment Rights and Responsibilities
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer at your workplace, and you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks by your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
