Prince Rock Primary School are looking to take on a teaching assistant apprentice to join their school.

The Apprentice’s Role

The successful candidate will support and challenge children under the direction of the teacher. You will contribute to progress students within their learning, encourage the children to develop learning skills (together, trying, tools, thinking) using the schools systems as demonstrated by the classroom teacher.

You will support children with additional social and/or emotional needs, support the teacher with management of the classroom and work with children during some play/lunchtime and provide assistance with pupil well care. You will be required to undertake other duties appropriate to apprenticeship.

Working Hours: The required working hours will be 30-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, generally working 8.30am to 3.10pm.

Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the National Minimum Wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Past Apprentices

Price Rock Primary School has supported apprentices previously and currently has one working within the school.

After successful completion of your level 2 apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto your level 3 qualification and gain full-time employment with the school.

Skills Required

The successful candidate will have a basic knowledge of ICT, good written and oral communication skills and the ability to use your own initiative. You will have good keyboard skills and a determination to support young people.

Personal Qualities

You will be a team player, have patience and punctuality. You will know the importance of confidentiality and be reliable. A strong work ethic will need to be demonstrated.

Prior Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English A-C is required.

The Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools includes:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Functional Skills in English (Level 2), Maths (Level 1) and ICT (Level 1)
