Demon International Ltd are a local company based in Lee Mill, just on the outskirts of Plymouth. They are looking for a motivated young person with proven interest in welding to join their growing business and add to their skilled workforce.
The Apprentice’s Role
This is a great opportunity to work with a leading cleaning equipment manufacturer and progress and learn new skills throughout the apprenticeship. The role is suited to a person with good hand skills and a genuine interest in Engineering.
The duties include fabricating and welding frames for the cleaning pressure washers, assembly work to piece together the products, and assisting with the maintenance of equipment.
You will be supervised throughout your training with the employer, by a skilled member of staff, who will show you all the tools and equipment used for this position correctly and safely. You must follow Health and Safety procedures at all times in the work place, and make sure that all equipment and tools used are cleaned and put away after use.
Working Hours: Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with 1 hour lunch. 40 hrs per week.
Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year during the course of your apprenticeship.

Demon International have had an apprentice complete their level 2 fabrication and welding course who still works for the firm.
On completion of your level 2 qualification in fabrication and welding the opportunity will be available to progress onto the level 3 apprenticeship to further your career opportunities on completion of the apprenticeship programme.

You must be hard working, able to take on board instructions and show an ability to progress with your training. Being methodical and striving to achieve high standards is also required.
You must have the drive, willingness and enthusiasm to progress and learn throughout your training. Good communication and customer service skills are needed to deal with both customers and colleagues alike.
Being able to work on your own initative and have a focused approach on the job in hand is also important.
You must be honest, reliable and have a proven interest in the engineering trade with a genuine desire to learn and develop to succeed in this exciting role.
Good timekeeping and attendance are required both when working with the employer and when attending the Skills Group training centre. You must show the confidence and initiative to work well within a team of experienced colleagues and when working on your own.
Qualifications required for this role include GCSE’s grades D or above in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding consists of:
Attendance is required for one day per week at the Skills Group Training Centre. Other aspects of your training will be carried out on-site, where you will have regular visits every 6 to 8 weeks from your designated assessor to monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship.
Whilst at the training centre you will learn new hand skills, welding techniques and a variety of fabricating methods under the supervision of your Skills Group Assessor. Learning all these skills will benefit you on your return to your employer.
