A Plymouth based stationary and office furniture firm are looking to expand their workforce by recruiting a furniture assembly warehouse assistant to join their highly skilled and keen motivated team.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful apprentice will be supported by a fully qualified member of staff who will teach you the necessary skills to successfully complete the apprenticeship programme. You will be involved in a variety of warehouse duties which include stock movement, picking customer orders, checking goods and materials into the warehouse and quality checking goods for damage and shortages.
You will be assisting in the assembly of office and educational furniture on company premises and at client premises. You will be loading and unloading stock items and furniture onto vehicles and into client premises. You will also be packaging goods for delivery via a third party.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. This may vary slightly depending on workload and travel time.
Wage: £140.00 per week. Any additional hours worked above 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age. The employer will also consider supporting the right apprentice with driving lessons if required.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Their clients are located throughout Plymouth, Exeter, Devon and Cornwall, Somerset and Avon and of course they have a nationwide delivery network as required by their clients.
Their products and services include Paper, Office Stationery, Business Cards, Print and Design to Machine Consumables, MPS (Managed Print Services), Printers and Photocopiers. Along with office and school supplies and furniture.
They also provide a free design service, including CAD plans, and free assessments and advice to select the most ergonomic Furniture and Workstations.
WestCare have had several office based apprentices through Skills Group in the past who completed their qualifications and stayed on with the firm for many years.
On completion of your Level 2 Performing Manufacturing Operations qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress and gain full-time employment at Westcare.
In order to be successful, you must have the ability to deal with customers and colleagues on a friendly and professional basis.
Owning a clean UK driving license would be beneficial as visits to clients may be required on occasions.
In order to be considered for this role you must be polite, punctual, conscientious and have an eye for detail.
Qualifications required for this role include GCSE’s grades D or above in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Performing Manufacturing Operations consists of:
Attendance will be required at our training centre for one day a week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will monitor your progress during your training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical.
