Nutters Hair Salon are looking to take on a hairdressing apprentice to join their busy salon in Exeter.
The Apprentice’s Role
Duties are likely to include booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair, and mixing and applying hair colouring.
You will study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection. There is also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.
You will also be required to attend college sessions once a week to undertake additional training which will enhancing your theory and practical elements.
Working Hours: You will be working between 30 and 40 hours per week. Shifts are to be discussed with employer.
Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Nutters was established in 1979 by Roy and Hazel Vile, prominently situated on Exeter's Exe bridges. The salon has been trading under the Nutters banner for over 35 years and continues to be a family orientated salon catering for all ages and genders. The Stylists are all professionally trained, some with over 30 years experience but, it doesn't stop there, Nutters continues to train their Stylists in the most up to date fashion trends and techniques.
Nutters currently have another apprentice and are looking forward to training a new member of the team.
Once having completed the level 2 qualification, there will be an opportunity to work towards an advanced level 3 to further enhance your skills.
The ideal candidate must be friendly and approachable and have excellent communication skills. You will be able to work well in a team portray a positive friendly attitude to customers at all times.
You will have excellent communication, high standards of hygiene and appearance and a keen team player are essential for any salon apprentice, and you will learn how to demonstrate this consistently to ensure that you promote a positive image at all times.
Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about training, have a creative flair and a genuine passion for the hairdressing and fashion industry. Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful salon so excellent interpersonal skills are required. You will have the ability to multitask and be able to work under pressure.
No prior qualifications are required, just a passion for hairdressing and ability to communicate effectively to clients and staff.

◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 3 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification Skills Group will help you achieve your Emergency First Aid and Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
