Salon X, based in Beacon Park in Plymouth, are looking for a salon junior to join their friendly team.
The Apprentice’s Role
Duties are likely to include booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair, and mixing and applying hair colouring. You will study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection – there’s also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.
The salon experience generally starts at the hands of the apprentice, learning the art of scalp massage will help put your client at ease and ready for their cut.
Although safe working practices underpin the success of every salon, you will learn how to combine this with creative hairdressing and barbering techniques to meet the individual requirements of your client. You will master colouring, cutting, setting and styling skills through ongoing practice sessions on models in preparation for your assessments.
Salons are becoming more reliant on technology to communicate with their clients, and to promote their salon services, styling team and latest offers, and our apprenticeship training includes an ICT element that enables learners to develop their skills to use social networks in a safe and professional way.
You will also be required to attend weekly college sessions to undertake additional training which will enhance your theory and practical elements.
Working Hours: The successful candidate will be working up to 40 hours per week between Tuesday – Saturday. There possibly may also be a night school one evening week.
Wages: £140.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
