This busy City Centre salon is looking for an individual with initiative to join their friendly team. You must be passionate about developing your skills in one of Exeter’s cutting edge salons. The Hair Boutique offers excellent in-house training with the opportunity to attend bespoke training events and master classes for the right candidate.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of duties and will be fully supported throughout the apprenticeship. You will be guided by a qualified member of staff to help you learn the skills and knowledge you need to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme, and to become a fully qualified stylist.
Duties are likely to include supporting the salon team, booking appointments with clients, shampooing, conditioning, drying, styling and mixing and applying hair colour. You will learn a variety of hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of colour selection. There is also the opportunity to learn about promoting salon products.
Advanced apprentices take their learning a step further by developing their cutting and colouring skills so they can carry out all the latest fashion techniques and maybe even determine the fashion looks of the future.
You will be shown all the company processes and procedures including health and safety in the workplace, making sure that all work areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the day.
Working Hours: You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday – Saturday.
Wages: £140.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The salon is committed to developing their stylists with regular in-house training and uses high quality products such as Goldwell and Opalex. The interior has a fresh modern feel and offers a range of specialist treatments partnered with very high standards of customer service.
The Hair Boutique have previously taken on apprentices in the past and are keen to welcome another.
The salon has a well established friendly team of stylists. After successfully completing qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the advanced apprenticeship.
The successful candidate will have a real passion for the industry with a strong desire to develop their skills further whilst having the ability to provide excellent customer service.
The ideal candidate will be passionate, self-motivated and personable.
GCSE grade A-D in Maths and English is desired but not essential as Functional skills can be completed.

Most aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 2 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification Skills Group will help you achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
