Rhianne always wanted to be a hair stylist and spent her work experience week at Envy Hair Salon. She later contacted Envy, who offered to put her through an apprenticeship. Since then, Rhianne has completed her Level 1 and Level 2 in Hairdressing, and her Level 1 in Barbering. She has nearly completed her Level 3 in Hairdressing.
I always knew I wanted to become a hairdresser and do something creative.
I had my work experience with Envy, which I really enjoyed, and after leaving school I got back in touch to see if there were any vacancies. I was lucky as Envy offered me a hairdressing apprenticeship – I’ve done the Intermediate in Hair and also Barbering, and have nearly finished the Advanced apprenticeship in Hair.
The best thing about my apprenticeship is that I’m being paid while I’m being taught a skill set. I love my job at Envy, it’s the only place I’ve worked and I want to build a successful career here.
I always enjoyed playing with hair even as a child and knew hairdressing could be the career for me. I didn’t enjoy school and used to skive whenever I could. So as soon as I could leave school I did, and I started working as soon as possible – I didn’t want to be signing on.
Although I started working at a different salon, I started my Level 3 hairdressing apprenticeship with The Hair and Beauty Lounge. I like working. Doing my apprenticeship has helped me grow up. I enjoy being in the salon and working with the clients. I’m building up my clientele and now have a few of my own regulars. I’m earning my own money, and perhaps one day I’ll be running my own salon!
